    How different is it from linux? is it based on *nix too?

    I bet I could convert my g/f to linux... she's entertained by installing stuff : I'm not sure if it's the getting new stuff, or the dialogue boxes that entertain her though.. ah well

    I bet I could convert my g/f to linux... she's entertained by installing stuff : I'm not sure if it's the getting new stuff, or the dialogue boxes that entertain her though.. ah well
    You've got to be careful, though. Once you convert her, she might try to take over your computer! And that would be bad!!! Very bad!!!!

    I'm in it right now on my Thunderbird. BSD is the closest predecessor to Unix that exists. There are some proprietary BSD's, but the major 3 are open source like Linux and together run on practically anything Linux does.

    Predecessor? I thought the BSDs were spinoffs of the original Unix...
