Well that's a matter of taste is it not ?Let that be a lesson to you for buying a Shakira cd. :![]()
well actually is a matter of my girlfriend telling me that she wanted the cd, and me having a few spare bucks..
But I like the earlier spanish stuff.
Ummm...for those who don't pay attention, this has been coming for quite some time. The CD's have certain info on them that makes them unplayable in non-RIAA approved (read: won't play copied CDs) players. This is a massive violation of the venerable fair-use clause of copyright law (allowing you to make copies for backup or personal use, but not for distribution) that the United States Congress and judicial system are more than willing to let happen. The way to stop this is, of course to have everyone who buys/listens to music write/fax/email/call their government reps (at least in the US - those outside may have different methods) and harass the living **** out of them until they realize that the people who vote in their states/districts won't put up with this crap!
Here in denmark we have a LEGAL right to copy cds for personal usage under some VERY loose terms. I can borrow cds from my local library or my friends and burn them for myself/encode them in ogg/etc.
So according to danish law that type of shit is violating my rights.. Ok... so where do I make my demands !

Yeah. Don't buy the crap. Don't support the bastards by buying their shit, even if you could use the trick to play it on your PC. >Doesn't solve the bigger problem... The moral issues I have with supporting this type of development![]()

RIGHT ON SISTER !!
On another note, all that extra code they slather onto the bitstream actually degrades the sound quality of the recording as well. Sony-Phillips go so far as to say that such disks can not be called "CDs" as they fail to meet the Red Book specification defining CDs.
