It's a Linux forum yet most of you have AIM handles. That's pretty sad.
FYI, ICQ is now owned by AOL.

Why is that sad? What the hell is the difference?
i use gaim? Whats so bad about that?
Because AOL is nearly as bad as Microsoft. Of course some people choose to use that MSN messenger too. Go for it if that's what you want, but I don't want to use anything by either of those companies if I don't have to.

I could have sworn I talked about that here. I guess it was somewhere else. I started using ICQ long before they were owned by AOL. So when they bought it, I had a lot of friends on it that I couldn't just ditch. When they changed the protocol, I didn't use it for weeks, maybe months, but I missed my old friends so I set up icq-t in Jabber. I don't consider that so bad, especially considering it pisses off AOL.

That is why I use gaim. It's not owned by the companies that I have issues with, but it does allow me to converse with those people that I like who use AOL and MSN.
AIM is a AOL product, GAIM isnt
MSN, blah blah blah
I cant allienate myself from those I havent converted to Linux yet. Again its all about choice.
Which is why I also use XChat on a daily basis
