Re: Anyone get the W32.Goner.A@mm virus?

is there even a linux/unix virus?
They made a virus once, as a proof of concept, but you have to run it as root for it to do any damage (if a normal user runs it, the worst it can do is delete all their files -- the computer itself is unharmed).

Aside from that, no. There is the occaisional worm (Ramen, etc), but that's about it.

It's not so much that they are stupid, it's that these people sit behind a computer for 8 hours a day and receive e-mails and send e-mails all day long and they dont know NOT to open something like that, i thinkit's ignorance, they just dont WANT to know the right thing to do.
While I agree most computer users are uhhh Ignorant. *Some are forced to use only what is given them. *For instance I work for the government and we cannot modify any registry entries (meaning no download of installed items) we cannot modify the file associations. *All this because the Government truely supports Bill.

I have preached the plus's of Linux till I'm blue in the face but... *

Well at least I have a choice at home : )
as the Clone's on Jim Rome's show say
War Linux War Redhat War Debian War Slack

Oh yeah and to answer the question of this topic we were hit HARD by the goner virus like we were with I love me and all the others....
