They made a virus once, as a proof of concept, but you have to run it as root for it to do any damage (if a normal user runs it, the worst it can do is delete all their files -- the computer itself is unharmed).is there even a linux/unix virus?
Aside from that, no. There is the occaisional worm (Ramen, etc), but that's about it.
While I agree most computer users are uhhh Ignorant. *Some are forced to use only what is given them. *For instance I work for the government and we cannot modify any registry entries (meaning no download of installed items) we cannot modify the file associations. *All this because the Government truely supports Bill.
It's not so much that they are stupid, it's that these people sit behind a computer for 8 hours a day and receive e-mails and send e-mails all day long and they dont know NOT to open something like that, i thinkit's ignorance, they just dont WANT to know the right thing to do.
