    Re: biggest download?

My wife only allows me to download things at night, after nine. (Snap, these pants are getting awefully tight. I'm sure glad my wife let me wear them today!) So, I have given up on the idea of actually downloading the latest/greatest super distro. I just rejoice in the fact that my net connection is actually faster than Kenshi's!

I tried to download slackware 7.1 on 28.8 once. When ~90% of the first cd was done windows crashed and getright said it couldnīt resume after I had rebooted.

I might also add that flatrate for dialup doesnīt exist here. Did it piss me off? Well.. Guess.

Fetzaa: what did you downld that was 8 gb in 1 day?
Didn't you hear me, I said linux ISOs. Namely, 3 of Mandrake 8.1, and 8 of Debian woody (no idea why woody took 8 ISOs, two of them were less than 300 MBs)

    Feztaa,

I will make a donation toward your cable bill if you will burn me disks 2 & 3 of Woody ;D I've already got the first one downloaded from at work, and the most popular stuff is on the first three disks I guess. I could suffer with apt getting a few things, but 56K sucks for big downloads. I downloaded a couple of cd's worth of RedHat once and it only took about a week.

Stupid WinDoZ can't even check a lousy md5sum I guess and 2 & 3 were corrupted. To top it off Sleasy CD Creator said they burned OK and there's nothing on the CD's. So I copied the .raw to cd-rw's and used Linux to see the md5sum was no good

I'm in the US, so if we're on the same side of the planet it might work out. Snail mail half way around the globe is either very slow or just pretty slow and expensive depending on how it's sent.

I'm in Canada. Calculating the distances involved is an exercise left up to the reader

Well first, we need to know what part of each country. It could be less than a mile. It could be 5000 miles. I bet I'm about 1/8 of the way around the world from the northernmost part of Canada.

Very true, but at least we're on the same continent so it should be fairly reasonable.
