Job at Microsoft required strong OSS experience?

I can't believe it. One of my firends work for Microsoft Bay Area site and he sent me this since I often discuss ( argue?? ) with him how MS is his OS centric and they won't run any Unix except to screw OSS people around at research centers or to host main Windows building code server machines in their headquarters. But boy, am I wrong... : This job is NOT at Microsoft Research center ...

    Check this ....

Could be something for their Hotmail server farm. The backend is still all Freebsd.

They had a job in the Redmond HQ area a few months back, a Linux spy pretty much. Make reports on the activities of the OSS community, and formulate strategy on how to compete against it.

    I almost applied for it....

I dont know if I could have a keep my job if I got a MS Job. It would be pretty tuff to "Love" MS and their products or atleast be productive. I got linux in my blood.

I would be too tempted to make a sourceforge page with WindowsXP - Open edition, and throw all the crap code up on the net Granted I would lose my job, but dammit! It would be worth it!

I'm sure you are aware that NO ONE PERSON knows all the Windows code. They are fully modulated and diversed.

    I found that quite fascinating
Although I have to agree with the FreeBSD/Hotmail theory
