I currently have a hardware firewall that I use as a gateway between the internet and my intranet. I want to set up a linux alternative to this if and only if I am able to send a remote desktop request to this firewall/router computer and have it forward the request to a windows computer inside my network so I can remote desktop in.
I work somewhere where I do not have as many applications as I do at home and I would like to be able to access them from home. I know that I could use a DMZ on a router, but I would like to keep the filtering and firewall capabilities for this machine as well as the other machines in the network. Running firewall software on the windows box is not an option. I was just wondering if this was possible.
