    Bnetd is a GPL'ed Battle.net server clone which does not authenticate CD-KEY's, so people with a pirated copy can play online too. It was built by looking at tcpdump's. Blizzard and Vivendi decided that Bnetd's developpers were violating the DMCA (some law students demonstrated otherwise), so the project page had to be put down. Of course, some people (like me) still have the sources
