local student tops in unix class midterm

No it's not. I was the head of my Unix class, and I would consider ramen noodles to be a rare treat. I could buy them, but then I wouldn't have the money for the water to boil them in.

You can buy a fifty packs of Ramen noodles for $2.00?! It's the cheapest food you can find, anywhere! If you can't afford that and you still have a computer, I think you might want to rethink your priorities.

Anyway, where I'm at, there is no Unix class. They just throw you into it come the assembly and data structures courses. It's sink or swim after the first week. You're expected to manage in it after that first week. If you don't, you'll have a bitch of a time programming.

Actually, my highschool is really bad. The computer course is basically typing 101. They teach you how to use Word and Powerpoint.

My university will 0wnz0r, though... the Computer Science department runs their webserver on Linux! ;D

Beats me, but at least I know that they know about non-MS OS'es, so it's a good sign.
