    Linux Text Books - Wanted

Does anyone have any text books they are willing to sell or can anyone give me the name, author, ISBN #, etc. of basic Linux texts for beginners?

Yeah, I really like "Running Linux," by Matt Welsh, Matthias kalle Dalheimer, and Lar Kaufman." It's an O'Reilly publication. I'm not sure if the 4th Edition is out (or is even being written), but the 3rd is great.

    Good luck,

    M

PS: I have found that reading posts on these forums can be quite a good learning experience as well.

You can have all mine for free www.linuxdoc.org ... Lots of great stuff.

I'll post a link list for free Linux books if anyone wants me to, I've been collecting them for nearly a year.

The Slackware book at www.slackware.com, and the Debian book at www.ora.com are both good as well.

I don't buy as much as I used to since many free downloads of books keep me busy more than I can read them. ;D . I only buy books that I read in some odd places such as while waiting in the car for my wife or in the restroom...

Thanks, guys, for your quick response! I have a few books but am really looking for school/college entry level text books and was hoping someone would have some they were finished with that I could purchase.

I do find information here quite helpful and print out many topics that I think I'll need and which I'll be able to understand better in the future. I have also found some good tutorials on the Net which I will incorporate into my learning schedule this fall.

I have a book called Hacking Linux Exposed. It's all about OS hardening, and it's fairly distro-neutral, but it does lean towards RedHat sometimes. It's fairly easy to read, but I'm not sure if it's for complete newbies to linux. You could call it "intermediate" level, I think

LINUX Administration : A Beginners Guide
    by Steve Shan

Its like reading a conversation, not sure what the latest and greatest edition is. The copy I have had RedHat 6.1 on it

I gave it away in hopes to converting another user to Linux
