    power saving

Not that I need to actually save electricity or anything I'd just like to turn things off after I'm not using my computer for awhile. How would I set it to turn off the monitor and hard drives after say 20 minutes.

    Re: power saving

    xfree86 < 4.x - use xset +dpms
xfree86 => 4.x put an entry in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 that says Option "dpms"

    here is an example.
    Code:
    Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Monitor0"
        VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
        ModelName "Monitor Model"
        HorizSync 30-69
        VertRefresh 50-160
        Gamma 1.5
        Option "dpms"
