Dumb question. We recently had a linux firewall installed with three development servers and a cheapo switching hub. When i got a look at the work the guy who installed it connected the cable from our ISP directly to the swithcing hub then connected the firewall to the hub and the three servers to the hub as well.

Seems very much a non-secure setup but I am from the Windows world just migrating to linux. Any input would be helpful. It also seems bad policy to do that because the ISP is connecting to the switch/hub and if that cheapo item fails then the whole network is down and the circuit can be dropped by our ISP.

Do we leave it as is? Shoujld we have internet-firewall-switch/hub-servers?

Thanks for your advice.
