I want to get a SPARC to learn Solaris on, but I have one question: how much memory is enough? I simply want to set it up as a server with one or two clients for educational purposes? Is 64MB enough or should I be looking for something like 128+?

Honestly, if you are just setting up a server, I would go with a sparc 20. Drop 512 megs of ram in that puppy, and a couple beefy harddrives, and you are still only looking at around $200 for one. That's what I'm using...
hit up ebay, tons of sparc 20's for sale...
Sparc 20's are 32bit (non UltraSPARCS) right?
how powerful would a sparc 20 with 512 megs of ram be compared to a new AMD xp or pentium 4 computer?link=board=unix&num=1008257666&start=0#1 date=12/13/01 at 10:52:18]

Horrible! Sparc20 is like 10 year old technology!
Yes, sparcs are 32 bit. You don't get to 64bit until the ultra's. Ultra 1, Ultra 2, so on and so forth. The blade's have Ultra 3 proc's, 64 bit as well.
