please excuse my ignornce but what is MUD?

from reading the post i get that its a game but waht does it have to do with hacking?

Mud = Multi User Dungeon an online text based adventure game.

I believe the "hacking" that was mentioned was meant to be going the codebase and modifying it not as world know "hacking"

i figured thats what the hacking was, but i was thinking more on the lines of changeing the appearence of the game.

It's like a bunch of people playing a pen and paper rpg with the computer being the game master. Check out www.game.org. It's one of the biggest MUD's online.

Yeah, hacking a codebase means adding and changing charecter classes, spells, skills, etc...
