Thread: Playstation 2 Linux Kit ships to US

Re: Playstation 2 Linux Kit ships to US

This subject gives me mixed emotions, not because of Linux or Sony but because of events that took place about a week ago. I used to run a website and one of the sections of my page had a review I wrote that basically summed up the events of Sony porting linux to its playstation 2 unit. I wrote this spur of the moment, referencing other sites and stuff to bring my friends up to speed on this subject. Anyway I was out of town and some genius thought it would be "neat" to submit my page to slashdoth.org as a story. So after it got posted to slashdot.org, sites like linuxto
    day
, rootprompt etc posted it. My article had like a couple 100kB images in it so you can imagine half a million hosts hitting the page at once, drew up the bill significantly.. like 200-500$ in only a few hours. I pulled the site offline by it was too late.. Anyway you can imagine it left a bitter taste in my mouth..
Incase anyone is interested what all the fuss about my article was, here is a mirrored copy of it since I no longer can afford to run my own site anymore.

I should think it's a bandwidth thing, once over a certain amount you get charged per MB/GB with some hosts

I read a hacking Xflop article where a gent managed to put an ATA 100 cable on the hard disk, the stock is a 33. It will take some effort but one *should* be able to change the hard disk size after some soldering on the motherboard.
