    Problems Setting up Mail Server

    Fedora Core 3

I've been slowly walking through the Chapter 21:

When I get to the area Testing TCP connectivity:
    [root@bigboy tmp]# telnet 25
    Connected to
    Escape character is '^]'.
    220 ESMTP server ready

250 Hello [], pleased to meet you.

    All works:

    But the next step fails:

    With an error of:
    500 5.5.1 Command unrecognized: ""

Doesn't seem to matter what user I put in there I get the same result.

HTTP access back to my domain from out side works fine.

Everything up to this point appears to work O.K. so I'm assuming I've set up the MX records correctly with my Dynamic Host for DNS services.

    Any suggestions?

p.s.: I'm very new to Linux and new to setting up Mail

    I must be a goose

Sorry people, I just wasn't reading it properly.

 clearly it says "anothersite" and I was using the same domain as mine. Once I changed it to another valid E-mail account it all worked perfectly.

I can send mail out, buit for some reason I can't check mail using Microsoft Outlook from my other commputer, it says it's been interrupted.?

    Any suggestions.

    Dear petcol,

Check your /etc/mail/relayhosts and add ip of your another machine from where you want to check emails.

    Best Regards.
