ouch .... have they fixed the problem?
Just a heads up that if you use Mandrake's software updater to update the kernel, it could make your system unbootable without a rescue disk. Even with the rescue disk, you might notice that it has screwed up your boot files. Make a backup of /boot first and be prepared to use it.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Even apt-get can update the kernel properly. I guess they don't call it the Advanced Package Tool for nothing, right?![]()
Get the vanilla from kernel.org and be your own upgrader.
why apg-get or even install an kernel.rpm when you can compile it the way you want it.
first of all, this is what i seriously hate about debbies8) Debian 8)

btw, i have psychic powers... i can see a "apt hosed my system" thread coming from feztaa somewhere in the future
Well excuse me for being enthusiastic.first of all, this is what i seriously hate about debbies
Despite the fact that I apologized and had all appropriate smileys. This is all in good fun (at least, it's supposed to be).this thread has nothing to do with debian at all and they just can't resist saying how good it is
Mu.well, would u lilke me to yell "LFS LFS LFS LFS" everytime u mention a debian problem from now on?
This person wasn't asking for help, he was merely warning people of one of Mandrake's faults. Were he asking for help, I would have helped him to the best of my abilities (even if that just means keeping my mouth shut). Since it was just a warning and the thread had already served it's purpose, I figured it would be ok if it went off topic, so I just did a little Debian post...
If I posted "Debian's bad because of ______", feel free to post "8) LFS 8)" or something to that effect. But if I say "I need help with ___________ in Debian", I expect your help, because I'd give it without a second thought were the situation reversed.
Yes, but then we still need Diskdrake to install Debian in the first place. * :P * :P8) Debian 8)

Only if you're lazy and/or don't know how to use cfdisk...
