No you can't. To learn without making mistakes is to be instructed by a master. There is no learning there, only following. To learn is to make mistakes. You can learn without making mistakes.
You can learn without making mistakes. But, I don't expect building my LFS system to be mistake proof. I was merely castigating myself for not proof-reading my stuff before hitting the enter button. It is better to be public about one's short falls, than it is to appear perfect and be proven imperfect.Well, how do you expect to learn without making a few mistakes along the way. You think I got it right on the first try?

Well, I think that we are both probably right, we are just looking at the concept of learning from different angles.

On a different note: the book says that you should add the $LFS (LFS=/mnt/lfs) to the .bash_profile. Do you just type it in the way I wrote it in between the parenthesis? Is there another way to write it? I know that the QT libraries need something added to the .bash_profile (or some such file) in order to work properly. Is it the same thing as the aforementioned $LFS? I would post this question to the lfs-support mailing list, but I don't really want to get a dozen reiterations of the same thing.

Thanks, I will put that into my .bash_profile. You are a life-saver, Lovechild.

More like a life destroyer... but thanks anyways. gl with the LFS project, I guess I'll have to stand in for Ralinx, along with feztaa and KP.

Augh...don't be so down on yourself. I will try to keep in touch with Ralinx. Maybe he will come back after he has cooled down a bit. Here's to hoping.

Damn! you guys got me wanting to do it and I can't even get my cd burner to work!
Good luck, and welcome to LJRDamn! you guys got me wanting to do it and I can't even get my cd burner to work! *
Don't hold your breath, he sounded like leaving LJR was the best thing that ever happened to him when I talked with him. He wants me to leave permanently too, and I think I might... God knows it'd be a better use of my time to practise coding and doing homework than reading here.Maybe he will come back after he has cooled down a bit.
