Anyone else notice that apps take forever to launch in Mandy 8.2 running KDE 2.2.2? I think the problem is related to KDE 2.2.2 because when I upgraded to KDE 3.0, the apps launched much faster (although KDE 3.0 introduced some other problems).
Well mostly that's a problem with linking which got better in KDE3, but it can get EVEN better with prelinking (read Ralinx' KDE3 compile PET to learn about it).
But KDE2 was slow, KDE 2.2.x was better, KDE3 is Great. <-- without prelinking
KDE2 still slow(not avail.), KDE2.2.x was great, KDE3 is AMAZING <-- With Prelinking
I have found the opposite - KDE 2.2.2 on my Mandrake 8.2 install is quite fast.
On my friend's 1.2 GHz, 512 meg box, it is runs like lightning.
Weird...oh well, one of those Linux mysteries to solve... :-X
