a good os for me ol 486!

yah i got a 486 DX2 with 4 megs of ram, is there NEthing besides GreyCatLinux and Win3.1 I can run on it?

i've heard slackware is great...i was looking around and found a distro thats supposed to work really well with 486's..its BasicLinux http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~ichi/baslinux.html but it uses a really old kernel and really old apps...from slack3.5 days, so its not really too good...im gonna try and get my hands on mandrake 8.2 or slack8.1 when it comes out at my bestbuy, cuz i got a modem...so no dlin distros for me

i would try phone line. thats what im settin to do with all my old 486 machines (i got about 20 free network cards

Debian, I got it running on a 386, 33mhz with 10mb ram, it works great, and was easy to fit on the 120mb HD. Altho theres no X and all it realy has is ssh, screen, gcc and vi, but thats all I need..
