    Themes for Window Maker

I've decided to give Window Maker a try on my Red Hat 7.2 box. *I have a couple of questions.....

    1. *I've been trying to figure out how to add different backgrounds to my system but haven't had any luck in doing so. *Is this hard to do?

    2. *I've upgraded the version of Window Maker on my PC but it didn't seem to go very well. *It's still the older version. *I'm to the point of confusion now.

    Thanks for the help.

i don't have WindowMaker installed on my system anymore so i'm not sure if the directory names i'm gonna use will be correct, but u should be able to figure it out. In ur homedir there is a directory called GNUstep (or something like that) if ur using windowmaker. In that directory there's a directory somewhere called backgrounds or Backgrounds. it'll be in one of the subdirectories. u have to put the backgrounds u want to use in that directory before WindowMaker will find them.

here's how i did it: i have a ~/backgrounds directory. so i symlinked the Windowmaker background directory (somewhere in ~/GNUstep) to that background directory and this way WindowMaker will always find ur backgrounds

Just drop a copy of the background into that file. Then it shows up in the style menu.

or you can just do setstyle <nameoftheme> if you want to install a new style
or getstyle <name> to back up your previous theme.
If you just want to set a background do wmsetbg <bgimage> ..

I think its more comfortable than copying the contents to the background dir ..
