    mouse newbie question

hi, right now x is using /dev/mouse and when I start x, it says 'no such device.' I have a usb mouse, so how do I determine which device my mouse is? thanks

    Re: mouse newbie question

    hello,
the entry /dev/mouse is always a link to the real device, if USB then I would guess it is in /dev/input/mice - at least that is how it is set up on my system, does the mouse work at all?

no I have not used a mouse yet. I tried /dev/input/mice in the x config file, but still the same 'failed to initialize core pointer' 'no such device' error.

    hello,
what distro are you using? have you tried to re-run whatever tool you used to set up Xwindows?
