hello,
the entry /dev/mouse is always a link to the real device, if USB then I would guess it is in /dev/input/mice - at least that is how it is set up on my system, does the mouse work at all?
no I have not used a mouse yet. I tried /dev/input/mice in the x config file, but still the same 'failed to initialize core pointer' 'no such device' error.
hello,
what distro are you using? have you tried to re-run whatever tool you used to set up Xwindows?
im using Slackware 8.0. well i ran mouseconfig and xf86config again but said im using a ps/2 mouse, and used ps/2 protocol and now x started like a champ and the mouse worked perfectly.
