    FluxBox Q's

Well, I finally switched to FB, and I'm having no regrets what so ever. I'm trying to tweak out the little things now.

First, I tried setting my background, and no luck what so ever. This is in the user account. I tried adding the 'session0.rootcommand: bsetbg -f /directory/image.png' line, and everytime it removes it. (In the user account '.fluxbox' dir) . I set the background line in the root folder, but it doesn't effect my user account. I can't check my root account either. I can set the background with 'bsetbg' but anytime I restart it goes back to the plain ol' bg.

Second, I can't get the 'fluxbox' selection on the login screen to work. I added it with kde, but I could never find a place to add the command line for that session. :P This is why I can't get in with the root, and I don't really feel like dropping my run level. :P

    Thanx in advance!

have you copied all the files, like menu,init,styles.. to your ~/ ?
and also edit the init file and chmod 700 them]

Where are you putting the bsetbg command? You could put it in your style. You don't need the session0. on the front of rootcommand.

What distro are you using? Do you know if it's using xdm kdm or gdm?

    Re: FluxBox Q's

add it your .Xinitrc file. When you startup fluxbox, then you can automagically load that background in (and startup anything else).

.xinitrc might not be being used if Kernal_Killer uses a X-login manager.

    Re: FluxBox Q's

Here s what PBHarris mentioned to me in my thread about default dm's and wm.

    pbharris spake:

for the default window managerstarted by a XDM session listed in prefdm find the /etc/Xclients files for default values. *you can also easily make it *such that fvwm (or fluxbox) is the only window *manager listed, *of course the user can still choose by editing $HOME/.Xclients-default

I'm using RH 7.2, and kdm. I have FB set as the defauly for the user account.

That is what I am doing in order for it to load the login manager.

    Re: FluxBox Q's

    xsri is a MUCH better background loader. It's part of X for god sakes (;

You can edit your style file for which ever style you want to use, take out thier bsetbg line, and replace it with a xsri line.

Ok. Well, most of it is fixed. I'm not sure that "Slit" is actually there. I tried changing where it was, but I still get my 'dockapps' in the bottom right. I changed all of the 'init' files to be "CenterRight". Anyways, how can I check to see if I actually have "Slit" installed?

    Re: FluxBox Q's

Ok, found my Slit problem. :P Really stupid actually. I was so use to changing preferences via editing files, I never noticed if you "right click" the corner of the KDE/WM app, I could get the "slit" properties. Explains why they kept changing back. :P As for the bg, that's another stupid fault. I went into 'bbconf' to check my settings, and the stupid filename was wrong. :P

    Boy, do I feel dumb.
