Have you tried Debian's website? I have found that they are really great at listing all of the dependencies for each package that you are wanting to install. Try there first. Is there a dependency list anywhere. *It is getting frustrating >![]()

I have finally got X working ;D, just lots of looking for libraries. I managed to work out what was missing and it works, it works. I just need to do KDE now.
What exactly was missing? I have generally been too busy to take the time to compile, but would like to know anyway.
I had to install libpam0g-dev, and I think I installed an older version of zlib or zlib-dev, not too sure.
Now I have compiled and installed X, and it works, but when I try to install KDE it tells me that QT isn't installed, and it is. QT compiled and installed fine. I have put the dirs in ld.so.conf and run ldconfig, but still no luck. The paths are in my .profile, what else do I need to do??
Cheers

I screwed that up too. I had to check the kde website for the exact directions. I have a script I wrote up somewhere. It basically compiled it in the proper order. IIRC qt is first and then a few other libs then the bulk. There was one though, that had to be done last or something. Just check the page. I will be home from work in ~ 2.5 Hrs from now. Give or take 20 min. I can email you the script that I got laying around. I know its somewhere. Oddly enough, it was for my work box. I just emailed the stuff to my home email acct, and deleted the local file hereIts a bash script.
OK, I have finally managed to get the jpeg libs working, the png libs working, and whatever else there was for qt. But now I get the error
make[3]: Entering Directory '/usr/local/qt/tools/designer/designer'
qmake designer.pro
make[3]: execvp: qmake: Permission Denied
make[3]: *** [Makefile] Error 127
Then it just leaves the directories. Permission denied for what?
Is there something that needs to be written that can't? I am logged in as root so I am lost. That script wouldn't go astray if you don't mind
Cheers

QT is now working but as I try to compile KDE it tells me that the Headers aren't installed. That would make sense as I haven't installed anything yet. Where can I get the headers from? And how do I install the? I have installed arts, and have got all the kde tarballs on my HD
