strange ....
you could boot from a bootdisk or a rescue cd and then mount your linux partition under it, now you can do passwd and recreate a password in your rescue system, then open /etc/shadow from it and copy the entry from root into your redhat system, now you should be able to log in with this password ....
<.. i have never tried that so i am not sure if this really works ..>
