Somehow Root's password is not the same as before?

I was using SU last night and all was fine. I closed it out and then remembered I needed to do one more thing. For some reason the root password is not the same. Is there a way to reset that without having to reload Redhat?

BTW Running RH7.2

strange ....
you could boot from a bootdisk or a rescue cd and then mount your linux partition under it, now you can do passwd and recreate a password in your rescue system, then open /etc/shadow from it and copy the entry from root into your redhat system, now you should be able to log in with this password ....

<.. i have never tried that so i am not sure if this really works ..>

Well for some reason it was not the caps lock DOH I did check that several time (More than 30).

Anyway I reloaded. It gave me a chance to undo some of the programs I did : ) All is good.
