    configuring second network card

    Hi all,

I'm in the process of setting up my Red Hat box as a server. I have two network cards installed and the system recognizes both. I have a cable modem and configured the first card with my static IP. I'm wanting to setup DHCP and was wondering what my second network card should be set to?

Also, is there a good website out there that would help with setting up a Linux server?

    Thanks for the help.

    Re: configuring second network card

Well, you'll want to set it to anything in the 192.168.x.x range, AFAIK (there are other ranges, too, but they don't really matter). You'll want it to be static, too, so that the other computers on your network can access it for the DHCP info they need

Here is a link that you might find helpful, but I'm not sure:

    Thanks for the info.....

I'm pretty good with the workstation side of Linux but the server side still confuses me a little (and I refuse to setup a Win2k server).

    Thanks again!

You'll want to setup "dhclient" for a LAN dhcp server.
Don't know where your at, but I hope this helps a little.
