There... I put document root... and I coppied over new httpd.conf.... I also put the index.html file... IT seems that Apache is not serving html pages right...

    hmmm I don't see any: directoryIndex index.html index.php
setting, it needs it to decide, what index page as default to show you..

I did that but when I save the file and try to restart apache I get this error message:

Syntax error on line 268 of /etc/apache/httpd.conf:
Invalid command 'DirectoryIndex', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started

I still get a similar problem...:
Syntax error on line 268 of /etc/apache/httpd.conf:
Invalid command 'directoryIndex', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

Re: Problems with my OLD webserver...

hmmm.. I can't see why this would happen.. You could take a look at my apache configuration: http://www.redhead.dk/download/pub/httpd.conf and see why it's not working for you. This is an OpenBSD configuration so I'm not sure if Debiann will accept it, but why shouldn't it, Apache is Apache..
