I have mandrake 8.1 running on an old shitty computer of mine (P133MHz with 64MB of RAM, 2 10GB Hard disks - works like a charm though). I would like to know how to share files from linux to win and vice versa. When i used to use corel, it had a nice little GUI App for setting up samba. However, it appears that mandrake doesnt have this little feature.
Now, could anyone explain to a newbie (that'd be me) how to configure samba?
to mount a windows drive in linux do this (you don't need to do a thing to samba - besides have the samba client installed:
smbmount //windowsmachine/share /mnt/point
to have windows access linux have samba server you can use swat to set it up, or edit the file, just doing a [b]/etc/init.d/smb start should give you the defualt stuff. edit the file /etc/samba/smb.conf - it is quite straight forward.
