bind setup on RH

I'm looking for how to on setting up dns sevrer on LInux box.
Couldn't find anything on google.
I installed rom bind and binary bind and in both cases I can't find named.conf file in etc....searched the hole disk and couldn't find any. Is that like with ntp distro for soalris taht you have a template files which should be renamed to conf ? If this is the case then wehere should I look for those files?

Well..at list I have found where is the named.conf file - unless you install caching-nameserver rpm file won't be created (I installed only bind rpms)
Still cannot find decent how to on how to setup and run the dns server.

works great. replace their use of /var/named with /etc/namedb/ for redhat compliance... or just edit your /etc/named.conf to look in /var/named instead, like I do.

If possible could you give a newbie a little easier terminology to follow. I am stuck on the third step Controlling Hostname Lookup Behavior to the end

I can access the webserver internaly across the LAN with the name I gave it in the HOST file and others can access it from one of those free DNS services on the net, but the rest is confusing to me

I do have a static IP from my ISP

It would be great that I can setup a full www.mydomain.com for it

Honestly, I havn't found any that dumb it down anymore than that. If you have trouble with that one, I would suggest you spend some time over at www.linuxdoc.org or various places, and learn some basic network info. DNS is one of the most basic network services there are, and the easiest to understand. Name == IP. IP == Name.... go from there.....
