ncftp is my fave for FTP clients. Easy, fast, reliable... what else ya need ??

gFTP is decent as far as GUI apps go, but ncftp is the best. I was skeptical at first, but I installed it and it runs great. Very fast and stable, just because it doesn't have to muck around with a GUI. All the commands are very intuitive (just type 'help' to see a list of them).

Re: whats a good ftp app?

Well, I have gFTP 2.0.8 and it works great. I've yet to see the problem.

I decided to try it with gFTP, had to uncheck passive mode and was able to get in succesfully.
I have the passive mode on but no problem so far with any sites.

problem is, is that when i select a song, i use the arrow pointing to the left to transfer it, and i keep getting disconnect errors for some reason yet i can get right back in. is there a certain setting i might be missing somewhere?
I'm not sure. Are you using SSH or FTP protocol?? Make sure it's FTP and not SSH. My SSH was used to have configured to time out after only 10 file transfers. That might be the problem. And also check for time out settings and whether binary or ascii mode. Play around with some settings such as Start file transfers and use HTTP/1.1 and stuff like that. Other than that, I don't see the problem. Mine is out of the box and works great.

I think IglooFtp is the best gui ftp, but closed source...not cool. I use gftp and just plain old gnu ftp when I'm in a command line mood. However, now I'm going to have to try ncftp to see what all the hype is about.
