    Internet Connection Blues - Slackware8

did netconfig, pppsetup, typed ppp-go -d, connected ppp0, got remote and local IP display, typed lynx http://www.slackware.com and got the following responses:
Unable to lacate remote host www.slackware.com
Alert! Unable to Connect to remote host.
lynx: can't access start file ??? I did try other urls, tried
ping url address and ping ip address this one left me sitting at the screen forever- while i switched to second term and tried looking at /etc/ppp/chap-secrets looking for how i input dns server - i input two ns1 and ns2 wonder if that created a problem... maybe i shld hav only input 1? Thanks

it shouldnt matter how many dns servers you have setup. If you have a small network that this is attached to, make sure that your routing table is pointing to the ppp interface as your default gateway.

Don't have a network, stand alone PC. Netconfig is setup for loopback.

What does /etc/resolv.conf look like? It should be something like

    search localdomain
    nameserver ip.addy.of.first.server
    nameserver ip.addy.of.second.server

If you need a name server to test with, use 150.176.245.24

    ph34r, */etc/resolv/conf : *
    search for msn.com
    nameserver 204.255.246.17

from root typed: ping 150.176.245.24 *and screen took forever to display
    Ping: 64 octets to 150.176.245.24, ret = -1
    Sendto: Network is Unreachable
These two lines just kept repeating and I don't know how to get out of it? *I am just tryiing to follow instructions from Slackware Linux "Install, Configure, and Customize"

    /sbin/ifconfig
    lo Link encap: Local Loopback
    inet addr: 127.0.0.1 Mask: 255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU: 3924 METRIC 1
    RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frames:0
    TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
    Collisions:0 TXqueue:0
    RX bytes:0 (0:0 b) TX bytes:0(0.0 b)

I am suppose to be able to run a browser in root terminal like lynx? *Don't know how to use terminal to communicate with another machine! * Thanks

print a copy of your routing table after you have connected to the internet. Make sure that ppp0 or ppp# (where # = a number) is listed in the routing table.
