Hi Folks,

This is likely more of a connection than a postgresql question, but I have just set up a Red Hat 7.2 box with PostgreSQL from the RPMs, and psql is working fine, so I know the service is running well.

My question is that I am trying to access the machine from a WIndows machine on the local network using pgAdmin2. I have been able to successfully do this on another machine, but when I try connecting to this one I get:

-2147467259
could not connect to the server; could not connect to the socket.

I have altered pg_hba.conf to allow access from machines on the LAN, and as far as I know there is no firewall on the machine (I specified no firewall during the install).

Does anyone know what I need to do to be able to connect to PostgreSQL - do I need to specifically enable the service to be listening on port 5432 or something? The machine that its working fine with is my home machine which is running Mandrake 8.2. I'm kinda new to Red Hat, so excuse if this is a rather basic question.

Thanks, Tom
