hello,
make sure you don't boot into X right away when do the swap. that way you will have time to configure the card and mnadrake wo't be trying to start X windows. Then I think you would use drakeX to set up the card.
I just got a PCI ATI Radeon 32 MB SDRAM. How hard is it to get it working in Mandrake 8.1? Right now I have onboard 4mb video, will there be any problems with that ? Any thing I should know about before trying to get it working? Thanks

Unfourtanetly I tried to install the Radeon before I read your post. *Well, X wouldnt start so I tried xf86config, but there was no driver for a Radeon. *I then read your post, but there doesnt seem to be a drakeX command. *I tried drakeconf and it said Radeon in there, but it didnt seem to do anything and still no XHeres the error when I type startx:

I dunno what the state of Radeon drivers for X is, but AFAIK you can only get good 2D performance and dismal 3D if any 3D at all.
I know this because I've read lotsa posts by people with Radeons, no hands-on experience.
AFA X not working at all...I assume you're using X 4.1.0 but I read that "Accelerated support is provided for Mach64, Rage, Rage 128 and Radeon chips."
