Why upgrade it ??
The only thing I think could improve that fine peace, would be a faster CPU.
I'm not that much of a hardware person so my gueses on what to upgrade are not always that good so I am asking you guys what I should do :-P. Here is my box right now ....
Athlon 600mhz (MB allows up to 1ghz)
384mb RAM
ATI Rage 128
Quantum Fireball 20 gig HD
DVD-ROM
10x8x32x Acer Burner
19 inch NEC Multisync 95
What would be the best thing to upgrade to get better preformance out of my box. I'm not sure of the rpm's on my hard drive or any other info like that. Would boosting my procesor make much of a diffrence now a days (I've heard the contrary)? Thanks!

what do you use it for... if you do games, I would say :
New Video card, faster CPU - maybe more ram
Otherwise.... dunno, you could give them to me![]()
Does anyone know when the ia64's are going to become the dominant arch? I don't want to upgrade my system just to cry over old, expensive parts![]()
Considering that your computer is (at least) twice as good as mine in every respect, it looks fine to me. I guess I'm just used to dated hardware
But unless you're an avid gamer, that should be plenty of computer for anybody.
If you are thinking IA64, then think AMD's product for starting out. Even if you are a die hard intel buff. The AMD version will support IA32 code well, whereas the Intel wont (will work, but slower than molasses)
I am not sure personally how well it will take off. depends on if the AMD is cheap enough to get a rallying behind IA64. Itel probably wont sell it for cheap enough that te average poor college and high school kids to afford (unless rich parents step forward)
If you want a 64-Bit architecture that is supported well, there is always Sun SPARC's. I am waiting to get my $800 SPARC II. Just need anther 150 ......
