    hi, mohan

The problem not seems to be in your linux system. check whether u have given annonymous access to the ftp server, if not just try with u'r root account.

Before that check the ftp server in the hosted machine itself, and check the physical connectivity between u'r client and the server.

reply if the thing get right

Windows clients default to using active FTP, Linux clients default to passive FTP

Check your firewall rules to make sure they allow both active and passive FTP

Take a look at this link for an explanation of the two FTP methods and how you can set your firewall rules to get it to work.
