dumb question of the day!
is the usb-storage module loaded?
I've got the USB external hard-drive that I asked about here: http://www.linuxjunior.org/cgi-bin/Y...94&start=0
I understand that it should be emulated as a scsi hard drive. I have scsi emulation compiled in the kernel (my IDE CD-ROM already shows up as a scsi drive, so I know it works). The USB ATAPI controller shows up in the USB device list.
The problem is that it won't show up as a scsi drive.Code:cat /proc/bus/usb/devices T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2 B: Alloc= 0/900 us ( 0%), #Int= 0, #Iso= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 0.00 S: Product=USB OHCI Root Hub S: SerialNumber=e0816000 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 2 Ivl=255ms T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 4 Spd=12 MxCh= 0 D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=067b ProdID=2307 Rev= 1.00 S: Manufacturer=Prolific Technology Inc. S: Product=ATAPI-4 Bridge Controller S: SerialNumber=0 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=100mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none) E: Ad=01(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms E: Ad=82(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms E: Ad=83(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 7 Ivl= 1ms
That's just my CD-ROM. Now what do I need to do for it to show up as a scsi drive? ???Code:cat /proc/scsi/scsi Attached devices: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: Model: 50X CD-ROM Rev: 4.2B Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02

Yeahhh ?!!dumb question of the day!
is the usb-storage module loaded?
did you chekc out these instructions?
http://www.linux-usb.org/USB-guide/x498.html
Now for my stupid question
Do you have SCSI hard disk support in this kernel as well as SCSI emulation?
I know that I need both for my USB removable mass stotage device.
Just an idea, I know you are bound to have but I forgot once & spent ages wondering why it wouldn't work. Yeah I know I am dumb :
