    I've noticed that most of the dist-upgrade troubles come when you move from one branch to another. For example, dist-upgrading unstable for all the latest packages is fine, but dist-upgrading potato to sid, etc., tend to cause problems. At least, that's been my experience since I started using Debian two plus years ago.

    Interesting. I'd rather not test that theory, though, I need my system to work, it's my only one for now
