hmm you could use fetchmail to put all mail into your inbox and then read it with mutt or whatever you want ..
i've been thinking about using Mutt for mail cuz i wanna switch to a console mail client and i've heard that mutt is the best
but i got some questions first:
1) how the hell do i set up multiple POP3 mailaccounts with it?
2) i don't have sendmail or any of that crap installed on my system. i need to use an outgoing SMTP server from my ISP to send mails. how would i set that up in mutt if it's possible?
edit: yes i've looked at the documentation, but i think that the muttrc style is just horrible and unclear

well i'm not gonna do that, simply because i think a mail client should be able to access POP3 accounts without any extra software installed besides itself
but i found some sample muttrc files so i'm checking it out
if anyone can answer my previous 2 questions, please feel free to do so
edit: damn spelling mistakes
well i finally got it to work with one of my POP3 clients and i like it a lot
i have no idea how to add the other POP3 account to it though, so if anyone could still explain that i'd be very greatful
Mutt is only a mail client, not a mail transport agent (MTA). *You must use something like sendmail or qmail to work with Mutt.
If you want a solid, easy to use console mail program that works well with POP3 and is self contained, try Pine. *That is what I use. *The configuration is very simple, and Pine has a lot of nice features. *Plus, you get the Pico editor with Pine for composing messages, and Pico is great for that task.

yea i also just read about the SMTP not being supported with mutt
but i'll install sendmail if i have to
mutt is just too sweet
Sendmail is a b*tch to use. I'd recommend qmail instead. You'll also likely want to set up fetchmail.yea i also just read about the SMTP not being supported with mutt

I tried for several days to get Mutt working right, but in the end I just went back to Pine. I wish you luck in your quest.
i'm gonna try sSMPT
that's what the FAQ recommends if u only have to get mail out to an SMTP server so i'm gonna try that first
well sSMTP apparantly does the trick cuz i can send mails with mutt now
the only thing i need now is to know howto add another POP3 account and i'll be ready to go![]()
