    Browsers

I am using Konqueror again. *Yeah, happiness! *I had been using Mozilla and Opera, with Opera as the main bowser and then switching to Mozilla for stuff that Opera would not do (plugins). *

But I hated having to switch between the two. *Mozilla simply does not look as good as Opera. *Sorry, but that's my experience. It does not look as good as Konqueror either (I am talking in terms of the look of rendered pages here, not the chroma). *Konq has a few rendering quirks on this page, but not on others that I have encountered. *Mozilla fails to correctly render several pages that I frequent, which is anoying.

Konqueror sure has come a long ways. *Maybe with the upcoming KDE 3, Konqueror will archive perfection. *For now, I have only small, trivial complaints. *And I have removed Mozilla and Opera both from my box.

Or, we could all go back to Netscape.... :

May be when we have AOL Linux??

I agree. Konquorer is good but it crashes more on my machine and Mozilla is kind of slow for my taste... I've never used Opera on this box so I don't know...

I'm hoping the best with KDE 3.0.

What version of moz were you using? I'm interested in what pages wouldn't render right, as I havn't seen that yet with moz. I use the lizard on lfs, redhat, win98, win2k, and solaris..... no issues....

    Re: Browsers

Konq is actually rather young. *Considering that it's been around since only 1999, it's been progressing in leaps and bounds. *It was, after all, the first browser that allowed you to suppress JavaScript popups (yeah, darn straight, take that you por...err, I mean X10 sites.) *Not only that, but the KHTML component is extremely well designed for such a small amount of time for development. *I also really like the 'Enhanced Browsing' feature in Konqueror. *That's really cool (if you don't know what it is, you need to check it out.) *It's almost as cool as popup suppression. *So yeah, I have little doubt that 3.0 will be even more of a surprise.

    Re: Browsers

Mozilla 0.9.4 was the version. The page that gives me the most grief is http://www.kyoht.com which is the personal website of a friend of mine. The site has about every tourture test that there is for a browser, including Flash.

In Mozilla, the text gets bunched up and some of the images seem to "bleed" out of the frames. Konqueror renders the page without these glitches.

Another anoying thing with Mozilla is on this page. If I preview a message, like this one, then go back, the text is gone. In Konqueror, I can go between preview and edit with no problems.

    Strange. Very strange.

I don't think I've used that older version much. MOzilla is up to 0.9.8, you should give it another try...
