What application are you using to print?
Hi,
I've been trying to set up my printer, and it's not printing! If I go to http://localhost:631/admin it appears in there, and I can print test pages from it, but I can't print anything else.
There's probably something I've missed, but I can't figure it out. After I installed Slack, I went to the url above and added the printer via the dialogs.
Can anyone help? ???
What application are you using to print?
I've tried from Openoffice Writer. If I try to print directly from the command line I get this:
chris@Trinity:~/documents$ lpr sharks.txt
Status Information, attempt 1 of 3:
sending job 'chris@Trinity+593' to LaserJet1010@localhost
connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost - No such file or directory
Make sure the remote host supports the LPD protocol
and accepts connections from this host and from non-privileged (>1023) ports
Waiting 10 seconds before retry
It does this three times and then gives up.
If you are using cups, the command should be "cups-lpr", not "lpr".
Give that a try.
Ah, lpr-cups does the trick from the command line! It also seems that I can print from everything apart from OpenOffice.
Still, if they've fixed koffice so it doesn't crash all the time...
Thanks Trickster, helpful chap as always!![]()
