How easy was it for you to set it up?
sambas really easy to setup if you use something like webmin or swat.
Or if all you do is listen to a random playlist, setup a streaming server like icecast/shout.
Ok I got samba and webmin setup but what do I do on my other boxes...
Well Samba usually authenticate based on windows login (or Linux). So what you wanna do is make each home directory have access. What I did for a file warehouse is the following.
1) Made a group called Schottysbuddies and added all current users (everyone could have read and write access)
2) Symlinked the dir to each home dir.
3) Tested it out
It worked out well. You must remember that the group permission will screw alot up (well, it did for me)
I used samba for all Linux to Linux networking. All (at the time) were RedHat 7.1
How do I mount my Samba share directory in linux?
