I just installed the Java plugin today. It has a nice, easy interface for doing so, but I don't like the idea that I have to be root to do it (running moz as root doesn't feel safe to me).

Now, is there any way to install plugins as a normal user? Is my problem tantamount to giving myself write permission to /usr/local/mozilla?

Thanks, all

Oh, and for the record, this is how I installed the java plugin:

First, I loaded moz as root. Then I went to dslreports.com (or whatever it is), and I navigated to where the java applet was. Then it asked me if I wanted to download and install the appropriate plugin, and I said yes. It downloaded and installed, and then I closed moz and opened it up as a normal user, and it worked perfectly.
