did you SU to root before starting that command?
you may want to login as root and try it
Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my SuSE 7.3 box. I downloaded the installer for Netscape 6.2.1. After unzipping it in a directory and trying to run the installer, this is the error that I receive:
suse1:/home/chad/download/netscape-installer # ./netscape-installer
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0
suse1:/home/chad/download/netscape-installer #
I also receive this error when I try to run emacs. This only seems to happen on my SuSE box. Is this some type of permissions configuration?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, it worked when logged in as root but not when I SU to root.
You don't want Netscape installed as an user owner/group.
BIG permission mistake, and would make a hole. The
program should be root/root with execute open the the
world.

Hello. When logged in as a user and you want to su to root, use "sux" and then enter password, instead of "su". This lets you use x apps . I had a similar problem trying to run something else, and a SuSE user mentioned this, which *proved to be the solutionYes, it worked when logged in as root but not when I SU to root.
