    Re: Debian and X

    a search on the mouse gave me this - i don't know if it helps...

    a nice mini how-to ins case you have not seen it:

    http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/LILO.html

    here is a lilo.conf of mine
    Code:
    prompt
    timeout=50
    default=linux
    boot=/dev/hda
    map=/boot/map
    install=/boot/boot.b
    message=/boot/message
    linear

    image=/boot/vmlinuz
        label=linux
        initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.7.img
        read-only
        root=/dev/hdb1
        append="hdd=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi"

    other=/dev/hda1
        optional
        label=DOS

    Re: Debian and X

    I'm thinking I may have to upgrade my kernel. I checked out the mouse page, and the kernel the first user review was 2.4.1.

    Thanx for the Lilo conf too, guess I've got a bit to do to mine. Luckly I downloaded a nifty Win2ext2 thing today so I can play in Windork. ;D

    ---------------------------------------

    Using the winext2 program I managed to scare up my Mandrake XF86Config-4.eg file check this:

    Section "InputDevice"
    * *Identifier * * *"Mouse2"
    * *Driver * * *"mouse"
    * *Option * * *"Protocol" * * *"MouseMan"
    * *Option * * *"Device" * * *"/dev/mouse2"
    EndSection

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    An attempt at lilo.conf, it doesn't work telling me there's no vmlinuz image:

    Code:
    rompt
    timeout=50
    default=linux
    boot=/dev/hda
    map=/boot/map
    install=/boot/boot.b
    message=/boot/message

    image=/dev/hda9/vmlinuz
        label=linux
        initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.14-1.img
        read-only
        root=/dev/hda9

    other=/dev/hda1
        optional
        label=Windoze
    *pulls out hair*

    Re: Debian and X

    It should be:

    Code:
    image=/boot/vmlinuz
    not

    Code:
    image=/dev/hda9/vmlinuz

    Re: Debian and X

    Thanks for that bit of code, with some slight changes it worked for me.

    Code:
    image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.14-k7

    Re: Debian and X

    Code:
    lrwxrwxrwx  1 root   root      10 Dec 3 23:41 mouse -> gpmdata

    crw-rw---- 1 root root date here usbmouse
    Got the lines using ls -l /dev/ | grep mouse, don't remember the date for the second but it's not important. The top according to a previous post is supposed to go to input/mice mine doesn't.
