Hey guys,

I am running vanilla debian testing (some unstable) w/reiserfs (you know the unofficial bootdisks) and it works great. *But...

I want to run 2.4.16, so I downloaded 2.4.16 and I put it in /usr/src and it extracted into its linux folder (I had nothing else in /usr/src before and now after the extraction all I have is /usr/src/linux). *So, I cd'ed into the directory and ran did a "make config" and configured everything and that went fine. * Then I ran a *"make dep" and it had a ton of errors about stuff missing. *

I will post the exact messages when I get home from work, but I was just curious if anyone has encountered anything like this and what you did to fix it. *Also, if you don't have this problem what versions of gcc and whatever else you use to do the kernel update process...

Thanks a lot !!
