Does it work fine in linux for more than 2 hrs at a shot? Can you leave it crunching seti untis 3 at a time for a few days with no problem?
If so, I'd look for a bad or missing driver for something weird like a motherboard resource.
If linux is crashing too, I'd look for some faulty hardware.

As ph34r suggested, download the latest drivers for your motherboard and assorted other devices. Update the bios, if possible (just in case). That should go a long way toward fixing the problem. Plus, it can't hurt (too much, anyway!).That only happens in Windows....
