I installed Centos6.5 webserver option. With some research, I was told what to change within apache to run it as a single user (from the same system (localhost 127.0.0.1). I am in the learning process. Those instructions included installing openssl.
System-->admin-->Services shows that apache is suspended. Command ps -ef | grep httpd (or grep apache) does not show any apache process active.
What do I check for to test that apache is functional? I have been researching apache setups. LHN has chapter 20, that I am perusing and looks great. But this is new territory for me.
I am anxious to learn.
Any helpful advice will be investigated
I am using Centos 6.5 (soon Centos7). "Systemctl start httpd" starts apache and "systemctl enable" thereafter assures that after a reboot, apache restarts. I am following LHN chapter 20, as I want to install wordpress locally, and subsequently, run wordpress at a host.
I am surprised how information in a step by step example does not exist or hidden from search engines. LHN is one large step above the rest. More as I make progress.
