    Identifying the dev file

    Hi All,
    Is it possible to find out which device file in /dev is assigned
    to the new hard disk/pen drive that i connect to the system (The scenario
    is i want to mount the new device that i connect. for that i need to know
    the device file assigned).please help.

    Just running "fdisk -l" by itself will list all the disk devices your system knows of, including thumb drives.
