Yeah, I think BP made sure to make us all learn by example.
That poster is funny. I agree, too, that we have all been forced to learn a thing or two due to BP's example.
I moved to the Gulf coast a bit over a year ago and only within this last year or so has the area started showing real signs of growth. Katrina really devastated this area to the point where it has taken this long to bring development back. Now, we face the prospect of, at the very least, negative publicity. At worst, we face the possibility that businesses, driven in large part by tourism, fishing, and gambling, will dry up and move on. Naturally, this could end up being more or less permanent. If that happens, then those who have the skill-set or the money will leave and only those who can't afford to leave will be left.
My hope is that there is minimal damage to the ocean and that this area can continue to advance.
The one serious conviction that a man should have is that nothing is to be taken too seriously.
Where facts are few, experts are many.
